First order of business was getting the curtains done. I made quilts for all of the children, but I needed to finish the curtains to match their rooms. It took a whole day, but I got it done.
Eliza received roller blades for Christmas and two days later Henry bought himself a pair of roller skates at Good Will. I picked up a pair of roller blades at Salvation Army for $4!!!! We hit the gym and had a few races, played basketball in skates, and did some baseball practice. (June received roller skates two years ago for her birthday.) Hopefully next time Dad can join in the rolling with us.
Saturday we went up to where the snow is deep and took the children cross country skiing. Our method of having one in the back pack and the other three on sleds worked pretty well. However, Eliza and Henry are getting too big to pull up hill. After we finished skiing the trail, they took a turn on the skiis, which means they had to wear our boots. They did pretty well. It sure would be nice to get them their own skiis. The stores around here don't rent children's cross country skiis and we can't afford to buy them right now. So, we'll stick to pulling heavy kids on the sleds for a while longer. It was a perfect day and a lot of fun.
I have spent the past two weeks catching up scrapbooks. This is very time consuming when you have seven scrapbooks. Thankfully, I try to keep on top of it and I only have a year's worth of pictures to put into each album. I'm more than half way done. I just have 500 Ghana pictures left to scrapbook:) And then the cycle starts all over because of course I now have roller skating and cross country skiing pictures to develop and scrapbook!!!
But other than that, we are just sitting around, waiting to get the word that our children have birth certificates and passports ready. But while we are sitting, we might as well be useful and churn some butter. That's a good use of time!
Carmen, I just read about your trip to Ghana and meeting your two beautiful children. It must be agony awaiting their arrival but I am so glad everything has been approved. What a blessing!
ReplyDeleteIt sure is wonderful to read about your family adventures. I wish we could come visit. I still have yet to make it to Montana! What a wonderful Mom you are. Best of luck in the next few months.
