Samuel's First Birthday Party

We felt like we should keep Samuel's birthday small and simple so that he could understand that it was about HIM and not lots of kids and craziness.  We are finding and learning that just the children in our family provides a huge amount of kids and craziness!!!

We had all the children sit down and then told Samuel that the present was for him.  It took him a moment, but was super excited when he realized it was his present.

He loves bubbles.  It is one of the words he knew before coming home.

Samuel loves Lydia.  Sadly she goes to college this week.  He will be excited when he gets to see her when she comes back for visits.

Earlier in the day, we were talking about how the wind blows and I was showing him how to blow like the wind.  When we place the cake in front of him I told him to blow like the wind and he was able to blow his candles out.

He was so fascinated that the candles went from being on fire and hot to being out and cold from simply blowing.  We lit the candles twice so that he could watch the process again.  He probably would have continued all night, but the rest of us wanted cake!!!!

Happy Birthday to a darling, sweet, super silly and fun boy!!  We love you Samuel Derrick Kofi Lay!
