Spring Break

We started our spring break by taking the children to the City County Health Department and getting Yellow Fever and Typhoid Shots (no pictures taken of that event). The children were so courageous!!!! Eliza has a great fear of shots and she kept saying "I can do this so we can go to Uganda." That was her little motto to get her through!
We took the children roller skating for their first time at Hauer's Skating Rink. It's an old run down warehouse, but the children had fun. There were a lot of falls taken but only a few bruises gained.
The children painted egg cartons and made critters like caterpillars, crabs, and spiders.
It snowed Friday and they played "snow camels", one of their favorite games in the snow because it means that they get to eat all the snow that they can. They also get a lot of vitamin D for dirt when they play this game.
We dyed three dozen easter eggs in preparation for the big hunt on Saturday. (As a side note, Russ and the children made one and a half dozen eggs into deviled eggs on Sunday when I was sick. It's a good thing everyone likes deviled eggs!)
We drove up into the Little Belts to do some cross country skiing. The children don't have skiis yet, so they rode in the back pack and on the sleds.

Pulling Eliza and Henry up hill proved to be a little difficult, but we all made it to the end. We didn't have to leave anyone behind thankfully.
And when we returned home, there were eggs and baskets to be found. The children received a rocket launching kit. This was very exciting because last easter they received the rockets. This is how you teach your children patience.
We found all three dozen eggs. The last one was found the next morning, but it is always a relief to know that there will be no rotting eggs in the house.
And it wouldn't be spring break without a dip in the pool. Thankfully we live in Montana where you can play snow camels and go skiing one day and sit in the pool the next!!
Rockets ready to go!
We rode our bikes to the park to have a picnic and light off rockets. We sent up three, but were only able to find two. The owner of the lost one was a little upset. There was a slight breeze and we just weren't sure how far it might have gone. We searched the whole park and the front lawns across the street. We did not venture into any unknown backyards however.
The children returned to school yesterday and we had preschool. It's always a bummer when we can't continue to play!
