Homemade marshmallows and graham crackers. Guess what we are doing for treat tonight? I would agree with my children 100% that it would be fabulous if it was summer all year round. We have had so much fun this past week. Hours of bike riding around the yard and around the town. I pull June and Chris in the bike trailor and Eliza and Henry follow (or sometimes lead) on their bikes. Russ and I are trying to teach them some bike safety and proper bike riding rules. We have this hope that our children won't be like the other crazy neighborhood kids that ride their bikes all over the place, swerving in and out of parked/moving vehicles, not following any traffic laws, and never wearing their helmets. So far, we maintain enough power to control these things, but soon, very soon, they will be able to ride their bikes on their own and we hope they remember what they are being taught now.
We love books. We've been to the Great Falls Public Library three times already and we went to the Lincoln Elementary Library. I have a book worm. She loves being outside, but she really loves reading. Often, she combines the two and we will find her sitting on the top of the swing set, reading!!! Eliza reads everything we bring home from the libraries. All the books she checks out and all the books the other kids check out. She reads to herself. She reads to her siblings. She will occassionally read to me, and she likes to listen to audio books! By the way................our new favorite audio is "Rapunzel and the Seven Dwarfs: A Maynard Moose Tale" as told by Willy Claflin. Russ bought it for himself for Father's Day at Barnes and Noble.
Are you the kind of person that goes to Barnes and Noble, picks a book from the shelf, finds a cozy seat, and then proceeds to read that book while relaxing music is being played? Well, lucky you, I haven't had that experience yet. No, my experience of going to Barnes and Noble is much different. Let me start with the truth..........I've only gone there when I've had a gift card and I know exactly which book I want to buy. I think it's going to be an in and out sort of deal, but when there are four children and another adult along, in and out doesn't happen. Bee line for the children's section, read four books, make four trips to the bathroom, deal with four upset children because they don't all get to pick out a book, and then leave with only a receipt of the book that had to be ordered. Next time...I'm using that gift card online!!!!!
