St. Patrick's Day

After our fun day in Helena, we zoomed back to Great Falls in time to meet my parents and my brother and his kiddos. They had come up to attend seminary conference with the youth of our church. Friday night was a youth dance, but the adults needed to attend as well so that there would be plenty of chaperones. Russ also needed to attend because part of his calling in church is to help with the youth. So, I stayed home with all the kids. Don't tell the other adults, but we had a lot of fun. My nephew might have paused once in his story telling to catch his breath, but I can't verify that for sure! His stories had my kids laughing so hard that they were almost able to make a spaghetti noodle come out their nose. After I was able to convince my boys that they had to stay in bed even though their cousin was up waiting for his dad, we had a peaceful night. The adults had to leave again at 8:30 this morning. My children had swimming lessons. Their cousins had a fun time watching them get dumped out of the canoe. The baby kept trying to scoot herself over to the water. Luckily she isn't a full on crawler and fairly slow, much to her dismay. We returned home and made leprechaun treats. I made a green smoothie and told them it was a leprechaun drink. The whole time they were drinking up their delicious smoothie I heard tales of catching leprechauns and squeezing out their green blood to make leprechaun drinks! Then we had green chocolate covered pretzels and lucky charm marshmallow treats. And tonight just before bed, I laid out a path of lucky charm rainbows that they followed to find a pot of gold (a bowl full of gold jello). We aren't huge fans of St. Patrick's Day. In fact, not one of us had any green on the whole day. But a few fun treats is enough to make it special for the kids!
