A look at the orphanage

A small view of the orphanage

The administrative offices.  This building sits at the front and center of the rest of the facilities.  The rest of the buildings are behind, in a U shape around the basketball court.

I stood in one spot at the corner of the basketball court and took pictures in a circle.  Top Left is the Rec Hall and one of the boys' dorms.  Top Right is the corner of the boys' dorm, the corner of the girls', the playground, and then the building where Samuel spends most of his day going to "school".  The bottom left picture is the front of the younger children's building.  And the bottom left is the back of the administrative offices.

Inside the younger children's building, every room has mats that they pull out on the floor for nap time.  Most of the children had already woken up, just a few were still sleeping.

At first, the children ran and hid in their rooms, then slowly came back out and smiled and waved.

We had a few of them give us high gives!  That made Russ's day.

Then they couldn't leave us alone.  And they never stopped waving at the camera.

This is in the middle of the little court yard inside the building. On the right side is a small hallway, where they cook, feed the children, wash dishes, and bathe the children.

Here some of the children are helping clean up after lunch.

Some of the children leave the orphanage to attend school.  This is a few returning on the Tro Tro.

I took this picture from the back corner of the left hand side of the administrative building.  The furthest, newer looking building, was built just a few years ago and houses older boys.

Russ played with this boy for a little while.  They took turns making the wheel roll.  Their games and entire lifestyle is very simple!!!

We post these pictures to share our experience with you and give you a glimpse of life in a Ghanaian orphanage.  This seemed to be a good orphanage.  Definitely not anything like some of the horror stories that you hear about international orphanages.  However, for privacy of the children and the orphanage, please do not share or copy these pictures.  Thank you!
